Woman Killed After Running Red Light in Manatee County

The woman was driving a Toyota Prius, She was heading west on C.R. 675/Rutland Road when she failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with U.S. 301. Her car entered the path of a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck that was heading north on U.S. 301. The truck collided with the left side of the Toyota.
Emergency crews responded and took the woman to a local hospital, where she later died. The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old Palmetto man, was not injured in the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
